Public invited to learn about transportation services for seniors and residents with disabilities

Bergen County will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, to discuss the County’s annual application for funding through NJ TRANSIT’s Senior Citizens and Disabled Residents Transportation Assistance Program. The program supports transportation services for senior citizens and residents with disabilities throughout Bergen County.

The County’s Division of Community Transportation provides essential transportation services to residents across all 70 municipalities. In 2026 alone, the division reported more than 194,000 rides covering over one million miles. These services help residents access medical appointments, employment, educational programs, grocery stores, and other important destinations.

The public hearing will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the County’s transportation services, proposed improvements, and plans for continued support through the funding program. Members of the public will also have an opportunity to provide comments.

Seniors, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and other interested residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about these important community services.
