The Bergenfield Police Department is researching federal funding project:

The proposed project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will ensure that Bergenfield’s police department, fire department, OEM, and EMS services can effectively respond to emergency situations and communicate with one another. The Borough of Bergenfield is a highly diverse and hard-working middle-class suburban municipality. The community is roughly 2.9 square miles in total land area and has approximately 28,321 residents. The Borough’s population density is approximately 9,439 residents per square mile, making Bergenfield one of the most densely populated municipalities in Bergen County. As a result of the high population density and the significant population of surrounding communities, Bergenfield’s emergency services frequently respond to a high volume of calls within and outside their municipal borders. Effective communication is key to ensuring that emergency services properly coordinate and share information with one another. If awarded funding, the overall ability of Bergenfield’s emergency services to relay information within their own organizations and to others will be greatly increased. This will not only improve the overall safety of Bergenfield residents but will also benefit residents of surrounding communities and the northern New Jersey region.
